Frognerparken with Children – The Best Play Areas and Activities
Frognerparken is a fantastic place for families with children. Here is a guide to the best play areas, child-friendly sculptures, and activities that children will love.
Frognerparken is one of Oslo's best excursion destinations for families with children. Here is our guide to the best experiences for the youngest visitors.
The Playgrounds The park has three playgrounds with climbing frames, swings, sandpits, and slides. The largest playground is in the northern part of the park and is well suited for children of all ages.
Child-Friendly Sculptures Many of Vigeland's sculptures show children at play and are perfect for engaging the youngest visitors. Sinnataggen is always a favourite – children love to imitate the furious boy. The sculptures of playing children on the bridge are also popular.
Picnic and Food The large grass areas are perfect for picnics. Bring a packed lunch and let the children run freely. During the summer season there is a kiosk in the park.
Bicycle and Balance Bike The wide paths in the park are well suited for children on bicycles or balance bikes. Avoid the busiest areas around the Monolith.
Educational Visit The Vigeland Installation is an excellent learning arena for children. The sculptures show human life from birth to death and can form the basis for good conversations. The Vigeland Museum has its own educational programmes for school classes.
Tips for Family Visits Come in the morning to avoid the largest crowds. Bring sunscreen and water in summer. Baby changing facilities are available at the toilet near the main entrance.
